From humble beginnings in rural South Georgia,
Pastor Mike Dorough has been passionately proclaiming the Word of God with the
voice of a prophet and the heart of a pastor for thirty years. A graduate of Crisp County High School in Cordele, GA, the University of Georgia in Athens, and
Liberty University Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, VA, Mike has served as a Student Pastor,
Lead Pastor and Evangelist. He has been
married to his bride Julie since 1988. They have two grown children, John Michael and Holly Ann. John Michael is a graduate of the University of North Georgia and is married to Holly Strickland Dorough. Holly Ann is married to Scott Ward and both are currently students at the University of North Georgia.
After serving almost seven years as a Youth Pastor in Lynchburg, Virginia, Mike returned to his home state and served as Student Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins for eighteen years. After serving a season as a traveling evangelist, Mike served as Lead Pastor of Riverbend Baptist Church in Gainesville for over two years. He has led mission trips to Russia, Germany, Poland, Brazil, and Nicaragua, in addition to mission trips throughout the eastern United States. In November 2011, Mike co-led a Conference for pastors in Caraguatatuba, Brazil.
Pastor Mike married his bride Julie on June, 18, 1988 at First Baptist Church of Downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Julie's vocal talents are a wonderful addition to Mike's preaching ministry. Julie is employed by the Financial Services Department of Hall County, Georgia. They love traveling, spending time together with their family (ESPECIALLY at the beach), and University of Georgia football games.
Mike has served two separate terms on the Truett-McConnell University Board of Trustees, serving once as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He has also served on the Youth Advisory Board of Boyce College in Lexington, Kentucky and on the Board of Grasp International, an international missions ministry.
Mike Dorough fully affirms the "Baptist Faith & Message" confession of faith adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in the year 2000. Click here for full text: http://www.sbc.net/bfm2000/bfm2000.asp
